![]() ![]() Since TSN lost the national contract in 2014 to rival Sportsnet and its parent Rogers Media, he now calls play-by-play for Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators regional games on TSN, while continuing to be the primary play-by-play broadcaster on the network's international hockey coverage. In 2010, Miller and TSN colleague Chris Cuthbert were selected by Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium as play-by-play announcers for the men's ice hockey tournament at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. In 2002, Miller became TSN's lead hockey play-by-play announcer when it reacquired national broadcast rights to the NHL. He also covered the IIHF World Championships and Women's World Championships.įrom 1998 to 2001, he was host of That's Hockey and then returned to the broadcast booth in 2001 as the English television play-by-play voice of the Montreal Canadiens on TSN's regional feed for one season. That year also began his run as a part of TSN's annual World Junior Ice Hockey Championships coverage, first as a rinkside reporter and secondary play-by-play caller, eventually becoming the lead announcer in 2002. In 1994, he began doing hockey play-by-play regularly as the lead announcer on the network's Canadian Hockey League coverage, including the Memorial Cup, as well as more frequent NHL assignments. He joined TSN as a reporter in 1990 and occasionally calling NHL hockey when needed. Prior to joining TSN, Miller worked for CBC in Edmonton, where he covered the Edmonton Oilers. He also covers the annual NHL Entry Draft, provides play-by-play for Canadian Football League games, and does play-by-play for NBCSN in the United States. He is a play-by-play announcer for the NHL on TSN and is the lead announcer for TSN's coverage of international hockey, including the IIHF World Under-20 Hockey Championships. Gordon Matthew Miller (born June 21, 1964) is a Canadian sportscaster for Bell Media's sports cable network TSN. Ice hockey, Canadian football, track and field But it just doesn't still make him a good commentator or expert, unfortunately.Canadian men's national junior team (2002–present) Sure he was an experienced hockey player, and a pretty good one also. ![]() Because of these issues he is very unprofessional in my opinion, and I trust very rarely his opinions because of it. One of the most biased commentator/expert that I know also. I think he gets also very much too emotionally invested and when he has favorites, he really lets it show. I just absolutely hated Ferraro's completely unprofessional reactions. And no, Stefan definitely was never any kind of favorite player to me, so it has nothing to do with which player was in that situation. Just one of the numerous examples of why I dislike Ferraro so much. Sure it was a big mistake by Stefan, but still nowhere near the mistake and unprofessionalism that Ferraro's stupid and insane ranting was. With his outrageous ranting Ferraro proved that he completely misunderstood the situation and made it really look like it was the worst kind of intentionary mistake that has ever happened in hockey. Wrong choice in hindsight, but still it is what quite many players do when they get a chance to put the puck into the empty net completely freely. ![]() It was a really unlucky sudden bounce of the puck that made Stefan lose the puck, and most probably it could have happened to a huge amount of other players too if they would choose to just carry the puck right into the goal. ![]() But Ferraro missed still the whole point. Of course it was a pretty sloppy play by Stefan, and a horrible mistake especially with the end result (Oilers tying the game instantly from the counter attack). The poor sod (Ferraro) didn't seem to really understand the whole play at all. Worst example probably was his comments on Stefan's unfortunate empty netter missing in 2007. First of all he has a very annoying whiny voice, and in fact his style is also often about whining or ranting on something. Ferraro is probably one of the worst commentators I know. ![]()
